Common Questions:

Q. Are we limited to school supplies only? The victims need food and clothing immediately?
A. Black Pencil Project has no capacity to mobilize resources to provide the immediate and basic necessity of the typhoon victims as of the moment, so we would like to stick to what we do best – pencils, and basic school supplies. Black Pencil Project advocacy focuses on the early learners of public elementary school system – a segment that are very vulnerable especially in cases like calamities.

Q. Who will be the recipients of the BPP Pencil Drive / school materials program?
A. Recipients will be pupils from Day Care, Grades 1, 2, & 3 of hardest-stricken public elementary school(s) within the calamity area. Each kid shall receive a complete study kit.

Q. When are you planning to distribute the school supplies? Can we join?
A. Study kits will be distributed immediately after the authorities had completed the retrieval, relief and rehabilitation operations. Black Pencil Project will make announcements where and when the outreach program will commence.

BADGES

SIDE THOUGHTS

  • Overcoming fights starts with forgiveness. All of us have faults and all of us hurt others sometimes. This is human, and holding grudges only hurts the one who holds it.

  • Jesus apparition on a frying pan.  Recently, Toby Elles from Lancaster, England and a 22-year-old brilliantly left the stove on after he was done cooking and after he took a quick boozey-snoozey, he realized his error and rushed to the stove.  Lo and behold, there was Jesus Christ, looking back at him with burnt eye of grease from the frying pan.

  • Love isn’t a fairytale, it isn’t perfect, and it doesn’t always come easy. But it is something that we should hold on to for the rest of our lives, because it’s the only thing that’s worth fighting for.

  • Hero: someone we admire. Someone we look up to. Someone who gives us hope. Not a myth, or an icon, or a legend- someone solid, genuine and real. An ordinary person who does extraordinary things. A hero picks us up when we are down. Believes in us before we believe in ourselves. Inspires us to expand and embrace what’s possible. Helps us realize that we can be heroes, too - Kobi Yamada

  • Devil’s Pool - a small lagoon, enclosed by rocks, on the edge of one of the biggest, most beautiful waterfalls in the world, Victoria Falls. Set on Livingstone Island, at a height of 103 meters, Devil’s Pool is definitely one of the most surreal locations on Earth
