ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A 5TH GRADER -ANNOYING EMAIL
I have been receiving an email everyday with a header “are you smarter than a 5th grader?” I alwyas delete message but today I just click it and read it. I do not know why but maybe just because of curiousity. Anyway it is about a problem (at first I thought a trick question) and it goes this way:
There are 7 girls on a bus – Each girl has 7 backpacks – In each backpack, there are 7 big cats – For every big cat there are 7 little cats.
QUESTION: How many legs are there on the bus? The number of legs is the
password to unlock the Excel sheet.
At first it will trick you because you might think that every girl will have backpack each but if you analyze it more it means that the girls have 7 backpacks each. Therefore,
7 kids x 7 bags = 49 bags. 49 bags x 7 big cats each = 343 big cats. 343 big cats x 4 legs each = 1372 big cat legs. 343 big cats x 7 kittens = 2401 kittens. 2401 kittens x 4 legs = 9604 kitten legs. 7 kids x 2 legs = 14 kids legs. 1372 big cat legs + 9604 kitten legs + 14 kids legs = 10990 legs.
The final answer is 10,990. I thought there is more trick to this but there is none. I inputed the answer and the excel opens.. i thought I must include the legs of the driver or the other girl has only one leg. HEHEHE…. Have a nice day. Also check out ARE YOU SMARTER THAN PRE-SCHOOLER
