MR. MAGIC + PERFUME & WITCHCRAFT CHARM

I remember that I used to have one of these during my elementary days.  They come in many colors.  I used to buy many of these after school hours while waiting for the school service and hang them on my neck.   I do not know what are these called but this time I bought them on a performer at the Taytay New Market.  I was just strolling around the tyangge when I heard a man saying “because its the Holidays and its a New Year, I will all give you a gift plus I will show you some magic.”  He was surrounded by other watchers and bystanders so I joined them to let time pass while I wait for my mother doing some market stuffs for the house and store.   Then the man said “all of these I will give them to you but I have a favor to ask?  I will just ask for small amount of coins for this presentation and in return you will get this colored bottles for free.”

He said the colored bottles with the yellow necklace is good for taming snakes and dogs, it is good to avoid witchcratf (like barang, kulam, and many other withcraft we know here in the Philippines mostly famously known in areas like Masbate, Siquijor, etc.  although here in Urban areas were told to be an urban legend).  The other colored bottle he said was a perfume but yu have to put smaller than a droplet for it has strong scent or it could be a cure for headache, toothace, stomach ache or even fungi (alipunga) in foot.  LOL.  Well it was a good Sunday Market Morning… thanks to this Bisaya Guy.

I bought the necklace for 10 pesos which was 20 pesos at the start and the perfume for 5 pesos which was 10 pesos at the start.  Some would not give him money for his products so he lowered his prices.  For me, living is hard, so I just gave him the money and I could write something here in Baterya and I even enjoyed his performance even I am not satisfied with his magics hahahaha..

SIDE THOUGHTS

  • Love isn’t a fairytale, it isn’t perfect, and it doesn’t always come easy. But it is something that we should hold on to for the rest of our lives, because it’s the only thing that’s worth fighting for.

  • Hero: someone we admire. Someone we look up to. Someone who gives us hope. Not a myth, or an icon, or a legend- someone solid, genuine and real. An ordinary person who does extraordinary things. A hero picks us up when we are down. Believes in us before we believe in ourselves. Inspires us to expand and embrace what’s possible. Helps us realize that we can be heroes, too - Kobi Yamada

  • Devil’s Pool - a small lagoon, enclosed by rocks, on the edge of one of the biggest, most beautiful waterfalls in the world, Victoria Falls. Set on Livingstone Island, at a height of 103 meters, Devil’s Pool is definitely one of the most surreal locations on Earth

  • Enchanted Well or Poco Encantado.  Located in Chapada Diamantina National Park in Brazil.  - This giant sunken pool is 120 feet deep and the water is so transparent the rocks and ancient tree trunks are visible on the bottom. Access to this pond is highly controlled for environmental protection of its rare and delicate ecosystem.

  • I don’t believe in fate or destiny. I believe in various degrees of hatred, paranoia, and abandonment. However much of that gets heaped upon you doesn’t matter - it’s only a matter of how much you can take and what it does to you — Henry Rollins
