GO AND REST IN PEACE TITA CORY
filed in EVENTS, LIFE on Aug.05, 2009

I am watching the funeral of Corazon Aquino over ABS-CBN. It is truly a sad day and the weather is certainly in one with this event. Speeches regarding how great Tita Cory is, her dreams, her vision and aspiration being a Filipina, being a mother, leader, fighter, artist and democracy icon.
There is no doubt that Tita Cory devoted if not all most of his life to our country, Philippines especially when the call for democracy is in need. Her last words “take care of each other” saying it to Kris does not only applies to Kris family and relatives but for the whole Filipino nation as well. Shed said:
“What is important is that we believe in the Almighty and that we try to do whatever we can to help ease some of the sufferings of our people.”
“I always tell my children: ‘I don’t know how many good years I still have left, but whatever I can do at this time, I really want to be able to continue not only for the cause of democracy, but also to help in bringing about a better Filipino. For the rest of my life, I will be doing whatever I can to improve things.”
As I was watching the funeral, mix emotion could be seen inside the church but one thing that strike me on the last part of the homily was what will happen to the country after the funeral? What will be the effect of this truly memorable event to every Filipino? What is clearly seen during the funeral of Cory Aquino was the word HOPE. Hope for all the Filipinos and the Philippines. President Gloria Arroyo came (hmm… of course just to say she came and maybe she’s sincere). Do you remember this scene?

The restoration of democracy, and the democratic transition to a new president, were Mrs. Aquino’s prime legacies. Yet she led mass demonstrations against all three of her democratically elected successors. She spent her last years joining street protests calling for the resignation of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, who was widely accused of rigging her 2004 election. I do believe it took a lot of guts for the Marcos siblings to go to Cory Aquino’s wake. It was, actually, courageous and I salute them for that. And the Late President Erap Estrada was there even though they were all saying about how she fight for democracy and there is Erap, listening. Maybe there is still hope for the Filipino people.
The couple Ninoy and Cory are sensational. They united us yet again. First with Ninoy’s assassination and revolution and now Cory’s death. And the image below will certainly be the basis of it. Even rain, traffic, a possibility of danger could not stop this unity. Showing only that everyone loves Corazon Aquino.

The Cory years launched a whole new regime of good programs that by quality and quantity surpass the combined achievements of her three successors. In Cory’s time, politics was less about spin, embellished stats, brownie points and executive privilege; politics was more about people and public service.
Paalam Tita Cory.. you made us proud again to be a Filipino.

The only person in world history who became a president by fate and not by ambition. The only speaker who has the longest standing ovation in the US congress. The only woman who led her people to win a revolution with nothing but faith in God. Roses, and Rosaries. The mother of democracy, the light of our nation, and yes; her legacy lives on forever.. Thank you President Aquino. – I got this from tumblr

the sins of the parents are not to be placed on the shoulders of their children. i commend the Marcos siblings for paying respect to cory aquino. truly, cory served as an inspiration and hope to the Filipinos. after more than 20 years, the Filipinos have forgotten EDSA. the death of cory aquino was God's will for even in death, Cory was able to remind the Filipinos of the essence of EDSA 1. there might still be hope for us as Filipinos here and abroad were reminded of how one woman steered our country into its rightful path of democracy and freedom. boo!! to jamby madrigal as her supporters actually gave out jamby bracelets during the funeral cortege.
