SAVE ON ELECTRIC BILLS
filed in GREEN, LIFE on Jun.23, 2008

With the yearly or I may say monthly increase on our electrical bills are pain in the neck. With the efforts of the government to increase the supply of energy still is not sufficient to help us save a little. I have a chance to have a chat with a experience electrician and these energy saving tips are what he told me to help us save some extra cash:
- All electrical items/appliances with motors must be unplugged if not used. The motors (the copper wires put in tube things) still generates and sucks electricity while they are still plugged. This means that our electric meter still goes up and counting. Example of these electrical items/appliances are electric fan, aircon, tv, transformers, refrigerator, and most of all which we usually forgot to unplug are our mobile chargers.
- If you still have the long flourescent lighting with ballasts, chances are when your not using your lightings they still add up to the electric meter.
- Get away from Pinlights. We all know they add to the aesthetic beauty and mood of the interior especially when they are being used. But Pinlights generally used transformers for them to function well. That means for them to use transformers means additional payments. (refer to the first tip).
- Do not use simultaneous usage of electrical items especially those that uses a lot of energy when being used. Example is when using your washing machine refrain from watching TV or using the airconditioning.
- In the evening when all are asleep, be sure to unplug items not necessary to be open like water dispensers, TV, radio, etc.
- Set timers of your AC and your television sets. You don’t need you AC to be open the whole sleep. Early 4 could be a smart time to set it off. And as for TV, who will be watching when your sleeping.
Yup these are just simple solutions to the heavy on the pocket electrical bills. If you have still some other tips kindly put it in the comments. Hope these help.
