BATERYA.COM

beerbottle%20heater.jpg

Hot Water heating it is one of the most cost-effective uses of solar energy. If you are ingenious like Ma Yanjun, of Qiqiao village, Shaanxi province, you can make it yourself and its completely free. “I invented this for my mother. I wanted her to shower comfortably.”

66 beer bottles are connected to each other so that water flows through them; it looks like thin plastic tubing is going in and out of each bottle . Sunlight heats the water as it passes slowly through the bottles before flowing into the bathroom as hot water. Ma says it provides enough hot water for all three members of his family to have a shower every day, although we doubt it will push the volume for any jazzy shower heads. ::Annanova

I know this a bit old story already, but after seeing for the first time, it made me think how brutal were the robbers were on the employees. The RCBC Cabuyao Laguna branch Robbery is one of the merciless killings I heard in months. Ten people, mostly employees and some bank clients, shot execution style, whose only fault was they were “early birds” and happened to be at the wrong place and at the wrong time.

Check out the images below…

NOTEBOOK OR LAPTOP

I can still remember 3 years ago, I had a Toshiba Laptop in which after a year crashed because of mishandling and misuse. I just recently known why did it crashed.

A laptop is not really meant to be put on the lap. The laptop is meant to be placed on a flat solid surface for air to circulate freely into its heating parts. Underneath the laptop are many vents and fans that push hot air out and suck cold air in. Mainly there is the fan that fans your laptop. It’s like air-conditioning for your laptop. And then are those little tabs or laptop feet I like to think that serve its purpose of letting air get in.

I tend to put my laptop on may lap or the bed always which should not have been. What happens is that your lap or the soft bed blocks the air vents so not letting air getting it which tends to suffocate. It can’t breathe! It becomes hot. The hot air can’t get out! It’s like you locked your laptop in a box and tried to burn it. So you must put it on a flat surface so those little laptop feet will actually be useful and take care of your laptop in their own little way.

A couple of months ago, I bought my a new laptop and before I bought it I made careful analysis of things, specs, money, etc. The image above is the one that I bought. I was carefully studying over Lenovo and Compaq. They have the same specifications (see below) but the Compaq have a built-in webcam and a 1? wider screen. But my brother, who works for an IT company, the sales attendant said that it is better to buy the Lenovo because its a trusted brand and more durable if you will carry it always. So I bought it, so far it is a good and I am happy with it. Below is the specs of my Lenovo G400 laptop:

PROCESSOR: Intel® Core™ Duo Processor T2130 (1.86 GHz)
CHIPSET: Mobile Intel – 943 GML
MEMORY: 1Gb DDR2 SDRAM
HDD: 120GB SATA 5400RPM
OPTICAL DRIVE: DVDRW dual layer multi burner drive
MEMORY CARD: 4-in-1 Multi-card Reader(SD/MMC/MS/MS Pro)
DISPLAY SIZE: 14.1” High Definition Glossy Widescreen Display
MODEM/LAN: High Speed 56K modem/ Intergrated 10/100 LAN
WIFI: Lenovo 802.11 b/g
EXTERNAL I/0 ports: VGA, 4 USB 2.0 port, RJ-11,RJ-45
POINTING DEVICE: Lenovo high touchpad with 2 buttons
WEIGHT/ DIMENSION: 2.35kg / 334mm x 248mm x 30-36mm

Right now I am planning to upgrade it to a 2 GB sdram. Another thing if Laptop is not meant for the lap, why is it called a laptop. Anyway I think I just have to call it a Notebook. Hehehehe.

Update: Thanks for the info Flisha for your my laptop overheating (I lost your link…sorry and thanks)

POWER OF THE BRAIN

Conversations with friends makes you learn something new everyday. While traveling from project sites at Laguna and Cavite, we had discussions on a variety of topics. The one that interest me are the details explaining on how powerful our brains are. As far as I can recall the following will give you an idea what our brains can do. If there are any conflicts regarding to what you know, please let me know.

1. There are two sides of our brain, the logical part and creative part. When we are sleepy or intoxicated with liquor, your logical part of the brain tends to shutdown first. That is why we tend to say anything or do anything without thinking much if its alright to do it or not especially when we are sleepy and drunk. Now, that is the reason why there are so much fight or they tend to have more guts to do anything when they are drunk. And this is also the reason why at dreams we can do anything we like because our logical part is shutdown and the ones doing the thinking is our creative mind. That is why sometimes you have already think of a solution to your design problems when you wake up. It is because our creative mind is more powerful when we are sleeping.

2. Our brains have a maximum capacity. When it is already full, during sleeping our brains tend to purge selective memories especially those that we do not need anymore. Have you ever experience thoughts you know but cannot remember it. For example, you ate at this place at this time, but when a person ask you what did you ate at that place and that time, you tend to forgot the answer. This is because your brain have already purge this information out of your brain. This is also the reason why kids tend to memorize more easily then adults because they could enter more information in their brains because their brains are not that full. This is also the reason why we adults could not remember some information from our childhood because it was purged already. And lastly, this is also the reason why most old persons tend to forget all the time. For us Filipinos, there is a saying “Ulyanin ka na, matanda ka na kasi” Hahahahahaha.

3. There is a part in our brain that secretes dopamine – a brain chemical that delivers pleasure. Drugs, especially pleasure related drugs tend to release more dopamine in our body. That is why, even if you are down and then you took a drug, you tend to feel happy. This is the ability of these type of drugs that makes it addictive. People who took these drugs for the second time, wants to feel the pleasure they felt the first time they used it. But the problem comes in when our brain cannot secrete more dopamine. If you cannot feel the same pleasure you tend to increase the dosage of the drug. Until how much dosage you put into it, your brain cannot give more. Then that is the problem, it could end your life. tsk tsk….

Well that is all I can remember………

BADGES

SIDE THOUGHTS

  • Overcoming fights starts with forgiveness. All of us have faults and all of us hurt others sometimes. This is human, and holding grudges only hurts the one who holds it.

  • Jesus apparition on a frying pan.  Recently, Toby Elles from Lancaster, England and a 22-year-old brilliantly left the stove on after he was done cooking and after he took a quick boozey-snoozey, he realized his error and rushed to the stove.  Lo and behold, there was Jesus Christ, looking back at him with burnt eye of grease from the frying pan.

  • Love isn’t a fairytale, it isn’t perfect, and it doesn’t always come easy. But it is something that we should hold on to for the rest of our lives, because it’s the only thing that’s worth fighting for.

  • Hero: someone we admire. Someone we look up to. Someone who gives us hope. Not a myth, or an icon, or a legend- someone solid, genuine and real. An ordinary person who does extraordinary things. A hero picks us up when we are down. Believes in us before we believe in ourselves. Inspires us to expand and embrace what’s possible. Helps us realize that we can be heroes, too - Kobi Yamada

  • Devil’s Pool - a small lagoon, enclosed by rocks, on the edge of one of the biggest, most beautiful waterfalls in the world, Victoria Falls. Set on Livingstone Island, at a height of 103 meters, Devil’s Pool is definitely one of the most surreal locations on Earth
