Sometimes hearing from news, ads, newspaper is not enough to know what will you believe in.  Sometimes it is still better to read or hear someone’s thoughts and insights of things.  I for myself was doubtful of putting on my selection  the Presidentaible candidate Gibo but after reading “Why Gibo” from Pinoy Tumblr, I was now aware of how Gibo thinks and his platforms for the election 2010.    Here is an excerpt of what the author wrote:

Some of you might be wondering why I am openly declaring support for the candidacy of ATTY. GILBERT “GIBO” TEODORO, JR., the standard bearer of the purportedly tainted administration party. Some of you might even wonder if I am in the right mind by doing so. To tell everyone frankly, I’d say…

In the video – Guy Sebastian sings Angels Brought me Here moments after being crowned the 1st Australian Idol in 2003.

Angels Brought Me Here by Guy Sebastian

[Verse 1] - It’s been a long and winding journey, but i’m finally here tonight.  Picking up the pieces, walking back into the light Into the sunset of your glory, where my heart and future lies There’s nothing like that feeling, when i look into your eyes…

[Bridge] - My dreams came true, when i found you I found you, my miracle…

[Chorus] - If you could see, what i see, that you’re the answer to my prayers And if you could feel, the tenderness i feel You would know, it would be clear, that angels brought me here…

[Verse 2]
Standing here before you, feels like i’ve been born again
Every breath is your love, every heartbeat speaks your name…

[Bridge 2] - My dreams came true, right here in front of you My miracle…

[Chorus] - If you could see, what i see, you’re the answer to my prayers And if you could feel, the tenderness i feel You would know, it would be clear, that angels brought me here…

[Bridge 3] - Brought me here to be with you, I’ll be forever grateful (oh forever Faithful) My dreams came true When I found you My miracle…

[Chorus] - If you could see, what i see, you’re the answer to my prayers And if you could feel, the tenderness i feel You would know, it would be clear, that angels brought me here… Yes they brought me here… If you could feel, the tenderness i feel… You would know, it would be clear, that angels brought me here…

Isn’t history more fun when you know something about it?  Before the Battle of Agincourt in 1415, the French, anticipating victory over the English, proposed to cut off the middle finger of all captured English soldiers.  Without the middle finger it would be impossible to draw the renowned English longbow and therefore they would be incapable of fighting in the future.

This famous weapon was made of the native English Yew tree, and the act of drawing the longbow was known as “plucking the yew” (or “pluck yew”).

Much to the bewilderment of the French, the English won a major upset and began mocking the French by waving their middle fingers at the defeated French, saying, “See, we can still pluck yew!”

“PLUCK YEW!”

Since ‘pluck yew’ is rather difficult to say, the difficult consonant cluster at the beginning has gradually changed to a labiodental fricative ’F', and thus the words often used in conjunction with the one-finger-salute!

It is also because of the pheasant feathers on the arrows used with the longbow that the symbolic gesture is known as “giving the bird.”  And yew thought yew knew everything!

I got this from my email again as I was browsing on it and it is about a person sharing his thoughts about how ingenious bahay kubo are and how could have evolve into a one of best Architecture there is if it were given a chance to evolve.   You might also want to check out Ifugao Houses and Kalinga Houses. I do not know the name of the one write this but it has an alias robsta12 and read on to what he has to say:

I think the bahay kubo is getting a bad reputation.  If you view the bahay kubo as a primitive shelter which it is.  It is actually quite ingenious.

By primitive shelter I mean the likes of the early forms of architecture in the likes of the teepee, cave dwelling and sticks.  I consider the bahay kubo under this category bec. of the timeline in which philippines was founded and evolved.  I’ll explain later on, but first lets examine the bahay kubo.

THE MICROSOFT CLEANER

Here is another story we could all get a lesson from.  As usual I got these from my email and just want to share it with you guys.  Enjoy

An unemployed man goes to apply for a job with Microsoft as a janitor. The manager there arranges for him to take an aptitude test — (Floors, sweeping and cleaning).

After the test, the manager says, “You will be employed at minimum wage, $5.15 an hour. Let me have your e-mail address, so that I can send you a form to complete and tell you where to report for work on your first day.

Taken aback, the man protests that he has neither a computer nor an e-mail address. To this the MS manager replies, “Well, then, that means that you virtually don’t exist and can therefore hardly expect to be employed.

Stunned, the man leaves. Not knowing where to turn and having only $10 in his wallet, he decides to buy a 25 lb. flat of tomatoes at the supermarket.

Within less than 2 hours, he sells all the tomatoes individually at 100% profit. Repeating the process several times more that day, he ends up with almost $100 before going to sleep that night. And thus it dawns on him that he could quite easily make a living selling tomatoes. Getting up early every day and going to bed late, he multiplies his profits quickly.

After a short time he acquires a cart to transport several dozen boxes of tomatoes, only to have to trade it in again so that he can buy a pickup truck to support his expanding business. By the end of the second year, he is the owner of a fleet of pickup trucks and manages a staff of a hundred former unemployed people, all selling tomatoes.

Planning for the future of his wife and children, he decides to buy some life insurance. Consulting with an insurance adviser, he picks an insurance plan to fit his new circumstances. At the end of the telephone conversation, the adviser asks him for his e-mail address to send the final documents electronically.

When the man replies that he has no e-mail, the adviser is stunned, “What, you don’t have e-mail? How on earth have you managed to amass such wealth without the Internet, e-mail and e-commerce? Just imagine where you would be now, if you had been connected to the internet from the very start!”

After a moment of thought, the tomato millionaire replied, “Why, of course! I would be a floor cleaner at Microsoft!”

SIDE THOUGHTS

  • Overcoming fights starts with forgiveness. All of us have faults and all of us hurt others sometimes. This is human, and holding grudges only hurts the one who holds it.

  • Jesus apparition on a frying pan.  Recently, Toby Elles from Lancaster, England and a 22-year-old brilliantly left the stove on after he was done cooking and after he took a quick boozey-snoozey, he realized his error and rushed to the stove.  Lo and behold, there was Jesus Christ, looking back at him with burnt eye of grease from the frying pan.

  • Love isn’t a fairytale, it isn’t perfect, and it doesn’t always come easy. But it is something that we should hold on to for the rest of our lives, because it’s the only thing that’s worth fighting for.

  • Hero: someone we admire. Someone we look up to. Someone who gives us hope. Not a myth, or an icon, or a legend- someone solid, genuine and real. An ordinary person who does extraordinary things. A hero picks us up when we are down. Believes in us before we believe in ourselves. Inspires us to expand and embrace what’s possible. Helps us realize that we can be heroes, too - Kobi Yamada

  • Devil’s Pool - a small lagoon, enclosed by rocks, on the edge of one of the biggest, most beautiful waterfalls in the world, Victoria Falls. Set on Livingstone Island, at a height of 103 meters, Devil’s Pool is definitely one of the most surreal locations on Earth
