ADVANTAGES OF A SOLAR LIGHT TUBES

ins300 1 ADVANTAGES OF A SOLAR LIGHT TUBES Lighting is among the most necessary features of any room. How a room is lit determines what the general feel of that room will be. Cozy and warm, clear and vibrant or darkish and intimate, light is commonly the most crucial factor. Probably the greatest ways to create an inviting area is to maximize the natural lighting that is used to illuminate it. One great way of engaging in that is by the usage of solar tubular skylights. Solar light tubes are a kind of skylight that enhances natural light to stream into a space, illuminating the house without the need to use light bulbs during daylight hours.

The fundamental premise of a skylight is pretty easy – replace a portion of standard, opaque roof with a clear part, which can enable natural light to move into the room. The problem with conventional skylights is that they can leak, and the light shines down straight via the clear panel into only the room immediately under it, in that one spot. A solar light tube is a a lot smaller, dome shaped skylight, which connects to a tube that is constructed of a reflective material. The light is mirrored all of the way down by the tube, after which diffused into the room where the tube ends. This may be a room on the primary floor of the construction or could, probably even extend through to a lower level. Traditional skylights may cause fading of carpets and furniture which are directly below them, because the sun’s rays slowly leach the color out of them. A solar light tube won’t trigger fading, because the dangerous UVB and UVC radiation of the sun is successfully blocked. Also, because the light is refracted and mirrored, it serves as an indirect light supply, rather than a single ray of light. Incorporating solar light tubes into a house may also help to considerably scale back energy utilization and costs in any house, as the necessity to use conventional, electric light bulbs is lowered throughout daytime hours.

FIRE HAZARD REMINDER ON ELECTRICAL PLUG-IN STUFFS

A little scary, but interesting to know.  This was received from a friend whose friend is in the property  insurance business. It is well worth reading. This is one of those emails that if you don’t send it, rest assured someone on your list will suffer for not reading it.  The original message was written by a lady whose brother and his wife learned a hard lesson this past week. Their house burned down.. nothing  left but ashes. They have good insurance so the house will be replaced and most of the contents. That is the good news. However, they were sick when they found out the cause of the fire.

The insurance investigator sifted through the ashes for several hours. He had the cause of the fire traced to the master bathroom. He asked her sister-in-law what she had plugged in in the bathroom. She listed the normal things….curling iron, blow dryer. He kept saying to her, “No, this would be something that would disintegrate at high temperatures”. Then her sister-in-law remembered she had a Glade Plug-In in the bathroom. The investigator had one of those “Aha” moments.

He said that was the cause of the fire. He said he has seen more house fires started with the plug-in type room fresheners than anything else. He said the plastic they are made from is a THIN plastic. He also said that in every case there was nothing left to prove that it even existed. When the investigator looked in the wall plug, the two prongs left from the plug-in were still in there. Her sister-in-law had one of the plug-ins that had a small night light built in it. She said she had noticed that the light would dim and then finally go out. She would walk in to the bathroom a few hours later, and the light would be back on again. The investigator said that the unit was getting too hot, and would dim and go out rather than just blow the light bulb. Once it cooled down it would come on.

That is a warning sign. The investigator said he personally wouldn’t have any type of plug in fragrance device anywhere in his house. He has seen too many places that have been burned down due to them.

I really do not know if this is true or not but knowing somethings would not hurt us. This is just to let us know that what might be possible to happen so we could do somethings to prevent this like unplugging this kind of stuffs when we leave home.

LIKE BEING THERE… WITHOUT THE SALIVA!!!

I guess all of you have heard the concert of Paramore last March 09, 2010 at the Mall of Asia Concert Grounds. Everybody especially the Parawhores (hahahaha – thanks to Sharlyne Ang for this word) were saying that it was a great concert.   A colleague of mine who were there during the concert share me this video which she took and that is why I am sharing it here to for everyone’s pleasure.  For those people that were not able to go to the concert, videos like this, and pictures from different websites is enough.  It is like we are still there and enjoying the music, but without feeling the crowd, without sharing the cheers and shouts, and without sharing the sweats and salivas (hahahahahaha).

LOG HOUSES OF THE WORLD

Log Houses of the World

Long considered the apotheosis of rustic kitsch, the log house actually has a rich architectural pedigree. Since the late 19th century, a surprising number of architects, along with their artisan-builder counterparts, have transformed the simple pioneer log cabin into a supremely crafted work of high art. Log Houses of the World is the first-ever chronological survey of the greatest examples of log houses designed in Europe and the United States. Included are photographs, plans, and little-known drawings?most never before published?from such celebrated Modern-era architects as Eliel Saarinen, Adolf Loos, Le Corbusier, Richard Neutra, and others. The result is both a remarkable tour of some superbly crafted homes, and an important vehicle for garnering for these houses the popular recognition, critical and otherwise, that they deserve.
