I guess all of you have heard the concert of Paramore last March 09, 2010 at the Mall of Asia Concert Grounds. Everybody especially the Parawhores (hahahaha – thanks to Sharlyne Ang for this word) were saying that it was a great concert. A colleague of mine who were there during the concert share me this video which she took and that is why I am sharing it here to for everyone’s pleasure. For those people that were not able to go to the concert, videos like this, and pictures from different websites is enough. It is like we are still there and enjoying the music, but without feeling the crowd, without sharing the cheers and shouts, and without sharing the sweats and salivas (hahahahahaha).
Long considered the apotheosis of rustic kitsch, the log house actually has a rich architectural pedigree. Since the late 19th century, a surprising number of architects, along with their artisan-builder counterparts, have transformed the simple pioneer log cabin into a supremely crafted work of high art. Log Houses of the World is the first-ever chronological survey of the greatest examples of log houses designed in Europe and the United States. Included are photographs, plans, and little-known drawings?most never before published?from such celebrated Modern-era architects as Eliel Saarinen, Adolf Loos, Le Corbusier, Richard Neutra, and others. The result is both a remarkable tour of some superbly crafted homes, and an important vehicle for garnering for these houses the popular recognition, critical and otherwise, that they deserve.

When I first saw this, I thought it was a joke and just a manipulated image but it is not. It is real. Even after you see it, it is still hard to believe ! I know, being an architect I must have known or heard about this especially that this great structure was built and completed last October 2003. (yeah yeah shame on me)… I know for myself I am a bit late in comes to great structures and designs… so I share this to those who still does not know of the Magdeburg Water Bridge (German: Wasserstraßenkreuz) in Germany which is the longest navigable aqueduct in the world with a length of 918 meters.
So, what is it? It is a navigable aqueduct to connect the Elbe-Havel Canal to the Mittellandkanal (“Midland Canal”), crossing over the River Elbe. You see, Canal engineers had first conceived of joining the two waterways as far back as 1919, and by 1938 the Rothensee boat lift and bridge anchors were in place, but construction was postponed during World War II. After the Cold War split Germany, the project was put on hold indefinitely by the East German government. This was only made priority again when Germany was under reunification and establishment of major water transport routes was being prioritize.

I found these two great future events here in the Philippines worth mentioning. The first is that Al Gore, the former U.S. Vice-President will be here in Manila to discuss about the environment titled “Face the Inconvenient Truth.” This will be an updated Asian version of the “An Inconvenient Truth.” This will be on the April 30, 2010 at the SMX Convention Center Mall of Asia Complex.
I remember watching “An Inconvenient Truth” on HBO and I was shocked at the evidences they have gathered about the effect of global warming to our planet and if we do not act on it now, we might not enjoy Earth in the not so distant future.
The second event worth going will be the Reunion Concert of Juan Dela Cruz Band. It is a two-part event which will be held on February 28 (yeah, its already shown) for the part 1 and March 28 (see! You can still catch them) for the part 2.

Spanish Dancer Nudibranch - There are more than 3,000 known nudibranch species, and scientists estimate there are another 3,000 yet to be discovered. So-called Spanish dancers, like this one off the coast of New South Wales, Australia, boast some distinctions over other nudibranchs: First, they can be enormous, reaching a foot and a half long.
FAMOUS CEBU PRISONERS - The dance routine was originally conceptualized by prison officers as a form of behavior conditioning. Then it became a money making event. Dancing prisoners are happy since they claim to enjoy more benefits than other non-dancing prisoners. The incentive to dance is not really to practice art but to receive better prison treatment ... read more.

“The early bird catches the worm; a stitch in time saves nine. He who hesitates is lost. We can’t pretend we haven’t been told. We’ve all heard the proverbs, heard the philosophers, heard our grandparents warning us about wasted time, heard the damn poets urging us to ‘seize the day’. Still sometimes we have to see for ourselves. We have to make our own mistakes. We have to learn our own lessons. We have to sweep today’s possibility under tomorrow’s rug until we can’t anymore, until we finally understand for ourselves like Benjamin Franklin meant. That knowing is better than wondering, that waking is better than sleeping. And that even the biggest failure, even the worst most intractable mistake beats the hell out of never trying.” — Grey’s Anatomy
