NAYONG FILIPINO – CLARK

It was an accidental trip to the Nayong Filipino at Clark Expo Center in Pampanga. It was just a cruise inside Clark Air Base until we saw a sign pointing to the direction of Nayong Filipino. At first we thought it was already a bygone place. No cars parked outside, no festivities whatsoever. But still we went inside the Nayong Filipino compound and was greeted by a nice looking place with lots of native Filipino houses and a grand old house that reminds us of the Spanish houses owned by famous Filipinos in Cavite, Ilocos and other historic places in the Philippines.

The Nayong Filipino in Clark is a cluster of replicas of houses, churches, Spanish type “plaza” with a replica of a grand old Barasoain Church at the center.

But on the adjacent area lies the good part about Nayong Filipino in Clark. Its a small community of Ifugao and Kalinga huts which are authentically constructed complete with their respective traditional furnishings. The place is surrounded by luscious greeneries that emits a cool and soothing environment. There was even a tree house where you can rest for awhile and have your packed lunch.

Nayong Filipino is only beside the once beautiful Expo Filipino in Clark, Pampanga. Expo Clark if I can recall was only used once and was never used in any events. What a waste? Anyway the Nayong Filipino is a place for relaxation and relearning the arts and culture of the Philippines which we should be proud of. Visit this place if you happen to be in the Area.

SIDE THOUGHTS

  • Overcoming fights starts with forgiveness. All of us have faults and all of us hurt others sometimes. This is human, and holding grudges only hurts the one who holds it.

  • Jesus apparition on a frying pan.  Recently, Toby Elles from Lancaster, England and a 22-year-old brilliantly left the stove on after he was done cooking and after he took a quick boozey-snoozey, he realized his error and rushed to the stove.  Lo and behold, there was Jesus Christ, looking back at him with burnt eye of grease from the frying pan.

  • Love isn’t a fairytale, it isn’t perfect, and it doesn’t always come easy. But it is something that we should hold on to for the rest of our lives, because it’s the only thing that’s worth fighting for.

  • Hero: someone we admire. Someone we look up to. Someone who gives us hope. Not a myth, or an icon, or a legend- someone solid, genuine and real. An ordinary person who does extraordinary things. A hero picks us up when we are down. Believes in us before we believe in ourselves. Inspires us to expand and embrace what’s possible. Helps us realize that we can be heroes, too - Kobi Yamada

  • Devil’s Pool - a small lagoon, enclosed by rocks, on the edge of one of the biggest, most beautiful waterfalls in the world, Victoria Falls. Set on Livingstone Island, at a height of 103 meters, Devil’s Pool is definitely one of the most surreal locations on Earth
