fuckyeahspace:  The Triangulum Galaxy, a member of our local group residing about 3 million light years away.  How do you photograph something that’s 3 million light years away? Why doesn’t it take the light from over there 3 million years to travel to whatever supercamera we have?

HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE IS ALIVE

The Hubble Space Telescope is alive, refurbished, and delivering fresh images. “This marks a new beginning for Hubble,” said Ed Weiler, associate administrator for NASA’s Science Mission Directorate. “The telescope was given an extreme makeover and now is significantly more powerful than ever, well-equipped to last into the next decade.”
