WINDOWS 7 EXPERIENCE PART 2

Posted by: baterya In: TECHNOLOGY

Check Windows 7 Experience Part 1 for more information.  At this point, I found out that Cabal cannot yet run on Windows 7 even t hough it automatically installed all the necessary update patches. I search for informations and found out that it would run if Windows 7 is already in stable mode and that is the only time Cabal will support Windows 7.

I am a person who does not want to clutter my pc with unecessary stuffs especially having two operating systems or installing two programs that does similar tasks.  I did some searching on how could run Cabal on Windows 7 and I found out about running multiple operating system in one computer.  Meaning, currently I run Windows 7 and from it I could run Windows XP its like having two computers in one monitor and pc.  Furthermore, you could share files between the two OS like u have your own network but having one pc only.  I found three softwares that could help me do this namely; VMware, Virtual PC; and Virtual Box.

I chose Virtual PC by Microsoft because VMware’s free version cannot create a virtual drive and I did some research between Virtual PC and Virtual Box and found out that it is better to use Virtual PC because of its ease of use and functionality.  I use the post by Technology Nerd for creating a virtual pc  although the guide is about Windows 7 it is still the same concept.  I created a Virtual PC intended for Windows XP machine and from that experienced I learned and observed the following:

  1. You can use when you need an application or software not supported by your current operating system.
  2. If you want to try and play with another operating system without leaving your current operating system, meaning no need to dual boot.
  3. If you want to try other programs without damaging your current decent system.
  4. Here is a secret (as if hahahahaha)… If you do not have lisenced copy of expensive softwares like Autocad, Photoshop, Office etc.  but you have a pirated copy of them and you afraid that inspecting authorities might check you pc, you can install them to your Virtual PC so that it wont be registered to your decent system.  The Virtual PC is only one file and you can easily delete it and all traces of it is gone… (oopppss…. shhhh)
  5. Another secret…  If you want to hide documents especially your videos and images you could put it inside your Virtual PC.  Who would guess that you put your files inside a Virtual PC and you could even set password before you could access your Virtual PC.

To continue.. .  I installed Cabal on my Virtual Drive with XP as its OS.  The program updated with the latest patch but sadly it says that the program is hacked and it would not continue to load.  I guess the game guard of Cabal detects that it is on a Virtual PC and it would not accept it.  Maybe because before players are using this program to run several accounts in one pc.

I wanted to retain Windows 7 and play Cabal too that it cost me 2 days before I decided that I will dual boot Windows 7 and Windows XP.  The following points are the key points why I chose to dual boot.

  1. Windows 7 run faster and smoothly on my laptop than Windows XP including all my applications and programs.
  2. In Windows XP I have to install different programs / softwares / utilities in order for XP to be customized into my own liking and benefits.  Not like in Windows 7, wherein I can customize it freely without installing any.  In this manner, It makes Windows 7 run more faster.
  3. Cabal – the only reason I installed Windows XP.  Without it, I have have included XP in my system.

Image above is my character on mercury server.  It was taken last Holiday Season.  Baterya is wearing a Santa Costume.  Just an add on to show you I really play Cabal (bwahahahahah)…. With all the time and effort wasted on this dilemna between Windows 7 and Cabal.  I am happy with my current system.  No choice… hahahahah…

SIDE THOUGHTS

  • “A polka-dot has the form of the sun, which is a symbol of the energy of the whole world and our living life, and also the form of the moon, which is calm. Round, soft, colourful, senseless and unknowing. Polka-dots can’t stay alone; like the communicative life of people, two or three polka-dots become movement… Polka-dots are a way to infinity.” ~ Yayoi Kusama

  • Mobile Phone runs on Coke -  Designer Daizi Zheng has designed an eco friendly phone for Nokia, which runs on Coca-Cola drinks. Yes, its fuel cells generates electricity from carbohydrates (sugar) in the Coke and it can run on any sugary water, not just Coke.

  • Our tumble dryer at home was not working since last week and we have to dry our clothes manually, meaning letting it dry under the sun but what if it is not a sunny day? It takes time without using a dryer, so I think we need to find a replacement soon and I think we need to find the Cheapest Tumble Dryer because we are on a tight budget.
